Icons for status effects#65

Having symbols on the right side of the health bar on characters shows miniatures that have been poisoned or burned/fire or stunned more easily. For people who have the view fully zoomed out (like me), as well as when there are a lot of miniatures surrounding each other, you might forget which miniature has been poisoned or pinned (especially pinned because those clamp things can blend in at time more so when everyone is grouped up). Because when everyone is grouped up it’s hard to mouse over your miniature especially when the miniature is small and is surronded by the large miniatures.

The sort of symbols I would use for example, having a droplet coloured green for poisoned, flame for burned/fire, star or a z bolt for stunned and a bear trap for pinned.

I am assuming buff/debuff VFX attached to units are not visible enough from the far camera? Each status is represented with a, hopefully, disctinct VFX. Do you find those unclear, too small or is there other reason? Cheers

It’s not that visible on units when from the far camera. So having a smallish symbol on the right side of the health bar above the units, informing the players that some buff or debuff is on that unit, and then the player hovers over the unit to get more information on the effect, which you already have on the bottom of the unit information.

It may also be possible to put tokens onto the actual gameboard like you do on an actual tabletop. Normally those go on the base though, which could be tricky if base embellishments get added. This might also make them less visible, for what that is worth.
