
A variant of gameplay could be having the players assigning a unit as the “secret captain”.
Both players start with all 10/6/4 units in play, maybe putting out units every other turn to “set up the board”. Either before or after the set up, you assign which unit will be your secret captain/king. The goal of the game will be to kill the other players captain, but not knowing which one it is. I can imagine all sorts of strategies forming around that.
Both players should still have a regular captain (Xo, Xuna, Zax…) too. Either you can also win if you kill that regular captain, or you only win if you kill the secret one.
Maybe there can be a cap on leadership cost to choose your roster or something like that
