Timer feedback - Earlier notice, scale with units, have analog in AI games#1190

I just played my first PvP game after about 5 AI games getting comfortable. Timers were a big shock. They felt universally short. The warning did not leave me enough time to even finish my current action let alone wrap up my turn. I missed deployments on about 3 / 6 turns in the game.
Suggestions:

  • Longer timers, at least longer as board state gets more complex.
  • The low time warning needs to be 3x earlier at least.
  • There should be a turn time extension pool like in hearthstone where you can extend your turns a few times a game.
  • The AI games should at least have a timer that doesn’t end your turn but notifies you that you’ve extended your play time.

I get you probably don’t want the griefing potential that comes with a chess clock, but there are ways around that.

Agree to all of this alot! PvP is very stressing with the timer. To short for newbies after round 4+ to manage everything in time. If in AI mode, then i could practice, would help.
